Who Is Krishna?

The name "Krishna" means "the all-attractive" — the one who draws the hearts of all living beings toward Himself through unlimited beauty, knowledge, strength, fame, wealth, and renunciation.

Unlike abstract concepts of God, Krishna is a person with a form, qualities, and pastimes. He appeared on Earth 5,000 years ago in Vrindavana, India, and His activities are recorded in the Srimad Bhagavatam.

The Bhagavad Gita, spoken by Krishna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, is His direct instruction to humanity on the purpose of life, the nature of the self, and the path of devotional service — as relevant today as it was five millennia ago.
